It’s the holiday season! While everyone loves visits from friends and family, all those extra people can wreak havoc on your plumbing. Here are a few things we encounter every November and December, when your in-laws, extended family and friends come together.
It never fails. On Thanksgiving, more than turkeys end up stuffed full. All those extra guests, including little ones who flush things they shouldn’t, can result in a stopped up potty.
During the holidays, you’re probably doing a ton of cooking. And you’re probably even busier than usual. That can mean food scraps and grease end up down your sink drain. Carrot skins, celery, grease, stuffing, and turkey are all very prone to clogging kitchen sinks. People think a garbage disposal will solve the problem, but this is definitely not the case.
Do yourself a huge favor — put those sweet potato peels or excess bread crumbs from the stuffing in the trash or compost heap.
When family comes to visit overnight (or over several nights) during the holidays, it can cause problems. People don’t always remember to clear the drain when they’re in a different environment.
These are just a few of the reasons we see a lot more of our customers during the holiday season. Getting your pipes cleaned out before the visitors get there can be one good way to avoid some of these situations, but even clean pipes can clog if guests put garbage down them. Your pipes and drains don’t care that it’s a holiday, but we do. We’ll be working hard to make sure clogged drains don’t disrupt your holiday celebration.
We can help make sure your pipes are ready for company, or get it fixed fast if something unexpected happens. Call Dauenhauer, any hour. We’ll clear up your holiday plumbing problems fast.
